Eh-hum # 69

Aside from cramming two papers (one is actually a take home quiz) for my MA class and accomodating our balikabayan relatives (kain dito, gimik doon), what could possibly keep me from updating my blog?

How about a career change?

Yes, people, I no longer work for the government, which occupied, all in all, one and a half years of my professional life. Why you may ask? In my case, job security.

No, don't get me wrong. Working for the government has its perks, especially if you have what we call a plantilla position...a permanent job item. Unfortunately, I did not have that.

However, if I am given the opportunity to do some serious research work in a government agency/institution (as a regular employee), I would definitely take it. But since there's very little vacancy for a regular position, I decided to apply for a corporate job. And I got one.

It will be a huge leap for me, but its something that I needed to do.
But the funny thing is, my current work is somewhat similar to what I was doing before: research work, analysis and writing some reports. The industry is also related to the agencies I've worked for. But in my opinion, if your pursuing higher studies, its better to be working in a government than a private company. Of course, finishing my Masters is equally important as building my career.

Nontheless, I find it pretty interesting and I hope to learn a lot in my new job. And I am looking forward to where this will take me. Gambatte Ne!
